Who we are
Village Campus Ministry is a progressive Christian campus ministry in New York City.
We cultivate loving, diverse, inclusive student communities.
We explore the connection of faith to real life.
We ask questions ancient and modern.
We challenge our assumptions.
We listen for God’s call to serve others and work for justice.
We grow in faith that moves us beyond ourselves into greater love of God and neighbor.

The Village Campus Ministry community includes college and graduate students from universities across the city. Over the years, VCM students have hailed from Fordham, CUNY, Columbia, Pratt, The New School, Barnard, NYU, St. Joseph's, FIT, Manhattan School of Music, Stevens Institute, Union Theological Seminary and more. Our student communities gather weekly for Neighborhood Dinners and throughout the year for Citywide Programs like retreats, trips, small groups, service projects, and more. We also run the College Student Pantry, a food pantry for food insecure students across the city.

Village Campus Ministry is a community where everyone is encouraged to bring their whole selves. We seek to be a welcoming community for students from all learning institutions and of all faith traditions, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, physical and mental abilities, socioeconomic circumstances, documentation statuses, sexual orientations, and gender identities. We value folks with doubts and hard questions. We boldly affirm and celebrate the identities and equal participation and leadership of women and LGBTQIA+ folks in our ministry and our world. Whoever you are, we'd love to welcome you.

What we believe
Village Campus Ministry is a community that values the diversity of traditions and perspectives our students and partner congregations bring. We do not ascribe to one theological tradition but we do hold some important shared values. At Village Campus Ministry, we...

-
Believe that God loves the whole world and made it good. No exceptions.
-
Rejoice that God loves each of us endlessly, not because of anything we do, but because of who God is.
-
Trust that Jesus is present in the fullness of our lives, not just the positive or "holy" parts.
-
Seek to follow Jesus' example of radical loving in our everyday lives.
-
Understand every person to be called by God to love and serve their neighbors and seek a more just world.
-
Take the bible too seriously to take it literally.
-
Know that we are far from perfect and we definitely don't have all the answers.

We call ourselves "progressive Christians" not because of our political beliefs, but because we know that the Church is not frozen in time. God's people progress through history, both rooted in the ancient faith and always being transformed in response to Jesus Christ active in our world today.
Our church partners
Village Campus Ministry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We come from many traditions and celebrate many voices. We are an ecumenical ministry rooted in relationship with our congregational and denominational partners in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Presbyterian Church (USA), and United Methodist Church, and are always growing in response to the realities of students’ lives today.
Get connected
There are lots of ways for students to connect Village Campus Ministry. Come to one of our weekly neighborhood dinners to explore faith in close community. Expand your mind and nourish your spirit through one of our citywide small groups, retreats, or programs. Grab some groceries and volunteer at our College Student Pantry. However you want to connect, we can't wait to get to know you.
